Clinton Fall Festival on October 27th

Clinton will celebrate its annual fall festival on October 27th in downtown Clinton with the event kicking off at 10 am.  The festival will include arts & craft vendors, food, and free kiddie rides.  The festival will also include a street dance beginning at 6 pm with the Out of Towners.  Come and enjoy the food, fun, and downtown Clinton.

Children's Funfest

The City of Clinton, the Clinton Downtown Association, and the Clinton Economic Development Corporation is sponsoring a safe alternative for the children of Clinton on Halloween.  On October 31st from 6 to 8 pm, you and your children are invited to join us downtown for candy, games, spooky surprises, and costume contests.  Music will be provided by Steve Windsor and photos are available from Shealy's Photography.  Join us for our annual Children's Funfest on Halloween night from 6 to 8 pm.


South Carolina Department of Commerce Awards the City of Clinton $900,000 for Downtown Revitalization

The South Carolina Department of Commerce presented the City of Clinton with a check for $900,000 for downtown revitalization and a check for $108,000 to assist with the construction of a frontage road between highways 72 and 56 at the August 2006 City Council meeting. The Opportunity Grant was awarded to improve the entrance into downtown Clinton and to create and fund a façade improvement program for downtown buildings. The $108,000 grant will be used in conjunction with a $2.1 million grant from the Federal government to construct a frontage road, connecting highways 56 and 72.


























Mayor Randall Announces the Kickoff of Clinton Focus 2012

At the November Council meeting, Mayor Randall announced the creation of a steering committee to kickoff the City’s five-year strategic plan—Clinton Focus 2012. After the successful completion of Clinton Challenge 2007, Mayor Randall lauded the need to continue to plan for the future and to continue to set the course for growth within the City of Clinton. Mayor Randall highlighted four initial areas that he would like to see studied—Marketing, Technology, Recreation, & Economic Development. The Clinton Focus 2012 Steering Committee will meet and plan for the official community-wide kickoff and begin to contact community members to join in the planning effort.

Ribbon Cutting Held at MS Bailey Municipal Center on
February 26, 2007

The City of Clinton and Ms. Emily Bailey, Chair of the P.S. and Ouida C. Bailey Foundation, with representatives from Carolina First, held a ribbon cutting at the new M.S. Bailey Municipal Center on February 26, 2007. The purchase of the 35,000 square foot facility was made possible by the generosity of Carolina First Bank as well as a $1,000,000 donation from the P.S. and Ouida C. Bailey Foundation. Ms. Emily Bailey, Chair of the Foundation, noted that it was honor to be a part of the gift and thanked Carolina First for their assistance.

The City Administration, Building Inspections, Planning & Zoning, Codes Enforcement, and Risk Management offices will relocate to the middle portion of the building on March 5th. The Finance and Utility Billing functions will not move until Carolina First completes its new branch on South Broad Street.



























City Nears Completion of Phase 1 of SCDOT Streetscape Project

As Phase 1 of the City’s Streetscape Improvement project nears completion, the City is busy developing the engineering and design for Phase 2 of the project. The City has received two $200,000 South Carolina Department of Transportation Enhancement grants within the past three years to improve the streetscapes in the downtown. Phase 1 focused on Musgrove Street and is over 90% complete. Phase 2 will focus on the opposite side of Musgrove Street and continue around Main Street and up North Broad Street. A conceptual design should be available by the end of March 2007.
